Frequently asked questions

How do I get a painting quote?
Call or text Wayne on 0423 916 005 with photos of the job, or use the quote form on this page. Quotes are no-obligation.
Can I text photos for a quote?
Yes. Text photos and your suburb to Wayne on 0423 916 005 and we'll get you an estimate.
How much does it cost to paint a house in Melbourne?
Our guide price for a full home interior repaint is $5,000 to $12,000, and an exterior repaint is from $6,000, depending on size and prep. Inside, the price moves with the number of rooms, ceiling heights, whether ceilings, trims and doors are included, how much patching is needed, and big colour changes. Outside, it's mostly the size, the number of storeys, the cladding (weatherboard usually needs more prep than brick or render) and the state of the old paint. Text Wayne photos on 0423 916 005 for a free, no-obligation quote.
How much does it cost to paint one room?
Our guide for a single room, walls and ceiling, is $300 to $1,100. Where a room lands in that range depends on its size and ceiling height, the condition of the walls and how much filling and sanding they need, whether doors, skirting and window frames are included, and whether you're changing colour, since going from dark to light can need extra coats. Text photos of the room and your suburb to Wayne on 0423 916 005 and we'll come back to you with an estimate.
Do you do rental refreshes and end-of-lease painting?
Yes. Painting rental properties for landlords and property managers, including end-of-lease repaints, is one of our most common jobs.
Can you paint over mould on walls or ceilings?
Not straight over it: the mould needs to be cleaned off and the surface left to dry, and a stain-blocking primer usually goes on before the topcoats, or the marks tend to come back through the new paint. Paint won't stop mould if the cause, such as a leak, rising damp or poor ventilation, isn't fixed. For landlords, Victoria's rental minimum standards, which cover most rental agreements, require each room to be free from mould and damp caused by, or related to, the building structure. Text Wayne photos for a quote.
Should I paint my brick house?
It can freshen up a dated home, but treat it as a one-way decision: once face brick is painted, getting back to bare brick is hard and costly, and painted brick needs repainting over the years like any painted wall. Brick is porous, so the first paint job needs proper prep and enough coats. Some owners refresh the trims, eaves and fascias first and leave the brick. If your home is in a Heritage Overlay, painting a surface that's never been painted, such as face brick, generally needs a planning permit, so check with your council first.
Do you paint timber fences?
Yes, we paint timber fences. A finish that lasts starts with prep: cleaning the timber, letting it dry out fully, and dealing with any loose or flaking old coating before new paint or stain goes on. Paint gives a solid colour that hides patchy or mismatched palings, while a stain lets more of the timber grain show and is often easier to recoat later. If an old fence has been painted before, have the paint tested for lead first. Text Wayne a photo of the fence and roughly how long it is on 0423 916 005 for a free quote.
My house was built before 1970. Could it have lead paint?
Quite possibly, because most Australian homes built before 1970 were coated with paints containing lead, according to Dulux. WorkSafe Victoria says paint on buildings from before 1970 should be tested for lead before work starts. Lead stays locked in while the paint is intact, but dry sanding, dry scraping, heat guns or pressure washing release harmful dust and flakes, and children and pregnant women should be kept well away. WorkSafe also says homeowners should tell their painter where any lead paint is, if they know. If your home was built before 1970, mention it when you ask for a quote.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry public liability insurance.
